- What are currently the best EFBs for Android? - Pilots of America
The nice thing about Android tablets is that virtually every wifi tablet includes internal GPS capability This means the tablets can act as emergency alternate GPS navigation in the event of total electrical failure FYI, none of my Android tablets has ever experienced an overheating issue
- Best performing Android tablet for Garmin Pilot - Pilots of America
The big problem with Android tablets is vendor bloatware Samsung is the only manufacturer still building premium spec'd tablets, and they insist on skinning the interface and installing their own apps for cloud storage, etc I recently bought a Tab 8" and tried to make GP work on it Basically unusable
- Samsung? Ipad? GarminPilot? Foreflight? - Pilots of America
Most Android tablets will include an integrated GPS chip, even many cheap ones I repurposed an old Samsung S3 for my EFB, but even an ancient Google Nexus 9 will run the Android EFBs just fine If you are in the Google ecosystem for work, nonprofit, or personal reasons, the Android EFBs will work well
- Looking for H W recommendation for Fltplan Go - Pilots of America
Lenovo, Samsung, and Huawei all make 8" tablets, but they are seriously out of date OS-wise, and the OS can no longer be updated The Huawei M5 is a beast of a tablet with an incredible screen Most of the currently available 8" tablets have fairly low-resolution (1200x800) screens It's too bad, as the 8" screen is a very useful size
- Running Garmin Pilot on Android tablet | Pilots of America

- fltplan go - Pilots of America
Virtually all smartphones and most Android tablets have GPS built-in (the new Google Pixel tablet being a notable exception) The iPads may not have GPS on-board unless you have a cellular model I have FltPlanGo, iFlyEFB, and DroidEFB installed on my phone and two different Samsung Android tablets All of these work fine
- Best artificial horizon app for Android | Pilots of America
For what it’s worth, modern iPhones (and I assume high end Android phones) have built-in electronic gyroscopes, as well as accelerometers So while it will never be certified (or a good idea to use it in navigation in any way) there’s no reason an iPhone app couldn’t simulate an artificial horizon (via gyros) and turn coordinator (via accelerometers) pretty decently
- Mobile ADSB in for Android? - Pilots of America
Hello everyone I've been away from flying for about 10 years, but looking to get back in One big change in that time has been ADSB I would like to get ADSB traffic information in planes that may not have that capability in the panel, preferably on Android A pilot friend of mine told me about
- What aviation apps are you using? Android version - Pilots of America
IFly gps on a samsung tablet and an iPhone Aeroweather pro on both Flight aware on both 1800WXbrief com If your an AOPA member you have access to their web-based version of iflightplanner Plans created there can be imported to IFly pretty seamlessly
- ForeFlight iPad Notice - Pilots of America
It makes a lot harder to ensure consistent performance of the software, especially in aviation where consistency and reliability is key That is the main reason I bought an Ipad and FF, just got tired of dealing with buggy apps and Android based tablets But my phone is an Android based Motorola
